If there was one thing he liked more than anything else, it was gaming. It was an escape from reality for him, and he absolutely loved it. He was often called a dork whenever he would pick up the mere mention of a game he knew--which was just about all of them--and would instantly jump in on the conversation, whether he knew the person or not. Of course, as soon as he realized that people were giving him strange looks, he would quickly shut his mouth and flee from the 'crime scene'. He hated being stared at, and he hated talking to people. Something about video games just triggered something inside him and forced him to speak. He was too far out of his comfort zone when that happened, thus the running away. He should really work on that. Oh well, he could deal with that much later. Right now, he needed to see if the local Gamestop had any new games. Whether it did or not probably wouldn't matter to him. He was fine with just skimming over the titles, making a mental list of what he had and didn't have. If he couldn't find anything he wanted, which was honestly very rare, then he would just go back to the dorms and play Vindictus or something. It sounded like a plan to him. The boy bit down on the inside of his lower lip as he entered the store, dark eyes looking around before he made a beeline for the Playstation 3 games. He might as well start there. He would make his way over to Xbox next, then perhaps the Wii games, oh and then the Nintendo 3DS section as well. Yes, this sounded like a great plan to him. It had been a quiet day in Gamestop on that day. Elijah found that as a good thing - though he was capable of pulling off friendly and caring when he needed to, he was a lot happier when he was left to idle in the store by himself, playing Pokemon on his DSi whenever no one was in the shop and making sure everyone knew what they were getting at whenever there was someone in there. He'd restarted his Black version not long ago, and was in the middle of a battle, facing the eighth Unova leader, when he heard the familiar ringing noise that played every time someone stepped in (or out) of the place. Flipping his 3DS closed and placing it out of sight on the shelf under the main counter, Elijah's dark brown gaze fell to the boy who had just walked in. Familiar: Elijah had seen him in the shop a couple times before, but that was pretty much all that Eli knew. That was pretty much all he knew about almost all of the customers, and he didn't exactly care to get to know what more.
He'd be friendly and do his job, though, which involved getting off the bar stool seat he'd been on and making sure that the young man could find any game he was looking for, offer to order stuff in, promote new games, all that business. He didn't get up just yet, though - but he kept a careful eye on the customer as the young man zipped towards the section containing PS3 games. After a few minutes, or if the kid approached him, he'd talk. Until one of those conditions was met, Elijah would just idly stare around the shop in hopes that he'd be able to resume the battle he had been in the middle of.

He had made sure to check who was at the counter the moment he stepped in. He never bothered much with the employees of the game store, figuring there wasn't much to do with them unless he had a game he wanted to buy. Well, that, and his comfort zone did no include walking up to strangers and initiating a conversation. That was just too far beyond him, and it was something he did not want to step into. He was perfectly fine with his little world of no talking, no interaction, just studying and gaming. Well, there was some social interaction when it game to his massive multiplayer online games, but at least he didn't have a face to worry about. He was much more comfortable when it came to the online world. Oh, goodness, he sounded like a shut in... Caelan browsed through the PS3 section, dark brown eyes carefully reading each title and looking over each cover art. There were a few new releases out, something that perked the boy up a bit. He had been replaying all of his old games while waiting for the new releases to, well, be released. He was also still waiting for Square Enix to re-release the PS3 version of Kingdom Hearts I, but he would have to wait for them to finish that. If he knew Japanese, he would have just ordered the original Japanese version online, but he wasn't blessed with that language. No, he could only get the original Korean version when the game originated in South Korea. That was rare, though, unless it was an online game like Starcraft or Vindictus. Speaking of MMOs, he couldn't wait for BLESS or EIN to be released. The trailers for those two were absolutely beautiful. Once they were out, he would have to finish his homework as quickly as possible so he could have time for them. Caelan paused his search, locking his eyes on a certain game case. Tales of Xillia? Oh, he had been waiting a while for this one. Recently released, expensive, very anime--it was his kind of game. Well, today was his lucky day, then! Hm, but there was also the newest Final Fantasy, Rune Factory... The list goes on. Why must there be so many choices? After a few minutes of careful observation of the whole shop, Elijah rose from his seat and wandered over to the section of video games that the customer kid had gone to. Eli hat noted how his expression seemed to change, like he'd found something he was interested in, which was Eli's normal cue to get up and offer his services. Ask him if he knows what he wants, suggest new releases, customer is right, customer service blah blah blah. Putting on a friendly smile, though, he dipped his thumbs in to the pockets of his black pants and reached the PS3 section, where the kid had his eyes locked on the case of Tales of Xillia.
A small smirk formed on Elijah's face - though he'd never played it before, he'd considered buying it with his next pay. He wouldn't, because if he didn't then Dominic would and buying it would just be a waste of money in that case, but he decided that this customer had good taste in games - unlike the kids who came in to buy the latest 'Call of Duty' and only that. There was nothing inherently wrong with Call of Duty, and Eli himself was known to play it when he had some time to spare and nothing else caught his current interests. But when it was the only thing you ever played, you quickly lost the respect of Elijah. There was an infinite supply of other, equally great and amazing games, each able to lure you in with its own ways. Plot lines, characters, whatever was your thing.
"Tales of Xillia, huh?" He remarked, hands still in his pockets as he forced himself to be mildy sociable and do his job. Luckily, Elijah was in his element. If he wasn't, he didn't know what he would do with himself - there's no way he would have been able to handle the nonsense that came with other jobs.

He started chewing on the inside of his cheek, a habit he should really get rid of when it came to thinking over something. He did it during tests, especially when he was stuck on a problem, and it would sometimes even bleed if he chewed a little too long and too hard. He sometimes also did it when he was playing video games, but that was normally only when he got a little too into the game. Nothing like the taste of iron when you're saving the day. When did he start that habit, anyway? Oh well. He should probably focus on the matter at hand: Tales of Xillia, Final Fantasy, or Rune Factory? He supposed that he could wait until Xillia was a little older, let the price drop down a bit, but he really hated waiting to play a game. He could probably just ask his parents to get him the other two for Christmas... Yeah, that sounded like a good idea to him. Christmas or his birthday, whichever he didn't care. They were only a few days apart, anyway. Caelan flinched, tensing in order to keep himself from jumping when he heard a voice. For him to get startled in a store was probably very stupid. He was bound to be called upon by an employee, but he hadn't expected one to actually come over to him. He didn't even hear anyone walk over to him, but he was probably just too deep into his thoughts to take any notice in his surroundings. The boy glanced over, giving a small, hesitant smile. " Y-yeah." Was that really all he could say? Yes, yes it was. It was the only 'intelligent' word that would form on his tongue, so it was the only word he said in response. He quickly turned his gaze back to the game cover. Tales of Xillia it was, then. OUTFIT: click!HAIR: always how it is in the table picture. c: WORDS: 316 NOTES: you're fine~

Elijah caught a very slight glance of Caelan's reaction to him speaking, and he noticed the almost awkward way that he gave a small smile and stuttered a single word. The kid seemed rather on the shy side, given the only thing that could come out of his mouth was a stuttered "yeah". Knowing what it was like to be less on the sociable side, Elijah wouldn't push him to say any more than needed. In fact, it made him feel a little better about things because he didn't want to have to talk a lot. In his head, he thanked the boy for being the quiet type.. Why did he keep thinking of him as a boy? He didn't look like he could be much younger than Elijah himself. Well, height and general build said he was probably seventeenish. His face seemed soft, though, making him look younger than that but he couldn't too much younger than what Elijah figured. Not a kid - almost an adult, and almost the same age as him, if not already. Age was a horrible thing to be able to guess right.
"I've heard good things about it," Elijah stated, taking one hand out of the pockets of his pants to grab a copy of the game off the shelf. "I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but I've read reviews and looked at some of the game play. It seems like it's going to be a good installment in the series." He left it at that, putting the plastic wrapped case back on the shelf and the other copies. His shoulders rose in a slight shrug after he placed the package back, his thumb returning to rest on the inside of his pocket.

He wasn't one to check the reviews of games too often. He never wanted to have his own opinions tainted by what others say of a game, and people liked to spoil parts of the game in their reviews. Then there were also the trolls who came on just to trash the game. He was always better off letting his own expectations for the game be high until he actually played it. Only then would he allow himself to to judge a game as good or bad. Normally he liked a game regardless of texture clipping, poor voice acting, or horrible combat systems. Well, the combat systems sometimes bugged him, but he tried not to let his gaming experience be ruined by such things. He nodded to what the employee was saying. " It should be," he mumbled out, biting down on his lower lip. He had seen the trailer for Tales of Xillia a while back, and he even watched a bit of the original Japanese version's walkthrough, just to know what he was up against. Did he understand any of it? No. Did he care? No. It just fueled his interest in the game. He should probably stop standing there awkwardly and actually buy the game now. Let's see, when did he need to be back in the dorms again? Sheesh, he has been going to Whiteridge since freshman year, yet he still can never remember when curfew was. That was probably because he rarely left his dorm after classes were over, spending his time quickly finishing homework so he could play video games the rest of the night. How he maintained such a great grade point average was beyond him. OUTFIT: click!HAIR: always how it is in the table picture! C: WORDS: 282 NOTES: what season is it, anyway? -shot-

"Well, if you need anything let me know?" Elijah returned, deciding for a fact that he wasn't going to be getting much out of the customer at all. That was fine with him, and he was more than willing to leave the young man to his own business. Bothering people wasn't part his job description nor something that he wanted to do.. Was it bothering? Given the quiet and shy air that the guy gave him, Elijah could only assume that it was. He knew how much he hated being bothered, especially when he was out alone - he was alone for a reason, after all. If he wanted to be around people and talking, he would be.
Not that Elijah really left his his apartment to do things in general. He rarely found himself outside of his apartment, almost always tucked in to his room playing World of Warcraft or out in the living room playing whatever game caught his fancy first - usually with his roommate and co-worker, Dominic. But even Dominic and him didn't talk much, and they'd known each other since they'd started high school... He didn't really talk to anyone at all, for the most part. Of course, with Elijah it wasn't shyness. For him it was just a desire to be antisocial and avoid people as much as possible, they irritated him more than anything.
He turned towards his seat behind the front counter, holding back a groan as he watched another customer enter the shop. He gave one last glance to this one, though, a chance to say anything if he wanted - ask about things, whatever. It didn't particularly matter too much.

He nodded towards the employee, continuing to chew on his lower lip. He tried to keep his eyes focused on the games rather than anywhere else. It was probably bad for him to feel slightly relieved that the other was going back to the counter, but he was. Perhaps shy wasn't the best way to describe him. He was too self-conscious and, well, socially awkward. He should really hurry up and buy a game so he can go back to his world of... Not reality. He was much more comfortable there rather than here. At least Gamestop was relatively empty today, besides the single employee and a new customer who just walked in. Hm, perhaps he could get something along with Xillia.. Let's see, if he did get something else along with that game, he would have to make sure it wasn't too pricey. He may have the money to spend from his parents, but he didn't want to waste it away by buying a couple new games. Taking one last glance around the store, he grabbed a copy of Tales of Xillia from the shelf before heading over to the Nintendo 3DS section. What did he grab? Nintendogs. Plus cats. Aw yes. What? He liked a good animal simulation game every now and again. Considering you can have pets inside a school, this was his next best option. He had a copy of the DS Nintendogs, but he hadn't gotten the 3DS version. Dogs and cats? Yes, please. Caelan shuffled over to the counter. His awkwardness continued, threatening to suffocate him as he placed the two games on the counter. " I'll buy these, please." He mumbled, shoving a hand into his pocket to grab his wallet. When the boy didn't say anything, Elijah gratefully returned to his stool behind the counter, crossing his legs up on the seat part and resting his elbows on his thighs. Though it looked like a rather squished, uncomfortable position, he was rather comfortable. He glanced at the keyboard under the counter, which was hooked up to a computer that worked with purchases and stuff - "want to sign up to get regular updates about new games and the latest tips and guides from Gamestop?" sort of shit. It was a bunch more nonsense that Elijah didn't care for. While the boy was shy, Elijah was just anti social and didn't like being around people.
In fact, the only time he liked human interaction was when it was using.. not humans. The only time he really associated with other people was using the internet - World of Warcraft, Halo and the likes took up almost all of Elijah's spare time. He wouldn't complain, though. It was too easy to get immersed in a fantasy, a virtual world where everything was so much better, so much more interesting and thought capturing than the worthless, petty lives that humans lived.
He'd been thinking about WoW when the boy with Xillia came up to the counter, placing both a copy of it as well as a copy of Nintendogs and Cats on the table. Elijah held back a small smirk - Nintendogs? Really? It wasn't his place to judge, and he would admit that he had a copy in his collection of games, but he never actually used it. It had been a birthday present from his older sister. And it had been a joke - she'd laughed when he'd opened the package.
"Yeah sure," Elijah said instead of criticizing, knowing that everyone had their own taste in games and, y'know, the customer is always right. He scanned both the games in and placed them in a bag. "Your total is $90.38."
