Daniel Marcus Ackerley August was a heat wave, to say the least. Or, at least, there was a heat wave - that much there was absolutely no point in denying. It was oddly hot out for Ohio weather, but after twenty-two years in beneath this volatile sun, Danny Ackerley had adjusted to the way summertime could go from rain and cold to sweltering hot in only a matter of a few short days - sometimes even less.
That was the good point about the local pool - it was always open in the summer for people to escape the heat and have a little fun in. Of course, it was usually overran by young children and teenagers looking for a place to hang, and the one thing that Danny hated more than anything was being bugged too much, but it was something he could handle. Immersing his head beneath this cool liquid would send a shudder of relief through his body, and he'd make the best of it - that was his plan He'd dialed up a couple friends before heading over, hoping that they would come around as well so that he didn't become the loser alone at the pool (not that he minded, but social standards dictated that apparently going out in public alone was some sort of shame - not that Danny believed that even one bit).
The dark haired young man, quite boyish in looks, made his way through the male change rooms after handing a toonie off to the man standing behind the front window. Taking his shirt off only once he reached the inner area of the lot, where the in ground pool laid in front of him, Danny tossed his stuff in to a corner and glanced around once for the sight of any of his familiar friends before taking a brisk walk to the other side of the pool. He joined the line for the diving board, excited at the idea of recovering from the abnormal heat wave that was hitting Westridge.

The heat was absolutely ridiculous. And Molly knew that the only thing that could make this heat wave okay, was a little sun. So, she'd packed a bag with a towel, some snacks, sun screen, and of course, her iPod. The one thing she could never live without.
She'd packed everything and loaded it into her car, before taking off for the pool. Once she arrived, she found a chair in the sun that she dropped her things on. She took off her cover up dress and dropped it on the chair.
Molly walked towards the stairs by the pool and stood on the first one for a moment. She shut her eyes, enjoying the cold water. Molly moved down the rest of the steps until she was finally in the water. Molly swam around for a while, enjoying the refreshing water, and finally she found a spot in the shallow end of the water to just lean against the side and shut her eyes.
After a while, Molly climbed out of the water and put on her sunscreen, not wanting to burn too bad. She then put in her headphones and decided to watch the divers. Molly was not a diver, however she wouldn't mind checking out the cute guys diving into the pool. She smiled and leaned back for the show, applauding after each dive.

Daniel Marcus Ackerley The line to the diving board went by fast - it seemed to Danny that almost every other person who had came the pool was just as anxious to get in to the water as he. Except for some, he noted - a few people hiding beneath the shelter at the far side. He assumed they were parents here for their children, though - keeping a close eye on their offspring but not willing to enter the water themselves. Then there was the people taking a break, sitting off on the sides of the pool or at one of the picnic tables. A few people were munching on various little treats and chatting away aimlessly, enjoying their day outside.
One person on the sidelines caught the young male's attention - a woman, maybe a few years older than he was, who was casually rested outside of the pool with eyes on the divers, clapping after each performance. The behaviour was enough to catch his attention, and his bit of an ego kicked in. Wicked smile forming on his face, Danny reached the diving board. Placing his heel at the very start of the board, he made a running start for the water, kicking off of the board on at the last second to propel himself in to the water.
Had he been stationary, a shiver would have shot through his body at the moment it entered the liquid heaven - which was exactly how Danny would describe the feeling that took over his body as he let himself slowly rise to the surface.

Molly had noticed him. The other divers may not have turned around, but she saw the one that did. Once she saw his smile, she had to grin back. She watched his jump, and then continued to watch his make his way up to the surface. Once he'd made it back up, she stood and clapped extra loud for him.
Molly had never seen the guy before, but hey, she was always up for making new friends. Especially if they happen to be attractive friends. After applauding, she laughed and sat back down. She decided she'd introduce herself once he made his way out of the water.
Molly couldn't help but stare at him, just a little. She leaned back against her chair after a while, with her knees up and twirled her little Mickey Mouse ring on her finger, still smiling at the guy in the water.

Daniel Marcus Ackerley Body surfacing from beneath the cool bliss of the water, Danny glanced towards the enthusiastic woman on the sidelines, letting his confidence get a good boost by her reaction to his dive. Given the way she'd returned the grin when he'd noticed her originally, he found himself drawn to check up on her again once he surfaced, and it was good that he did.
Danny didn't really need a confidence boost, but getting one anyways was great - especially from attractive women. There was definitely nothing to complain about there.
Henjoyed himself in the middle of the pool for a while after surfacing, diving down to the bottom of the deep end and back up a few times until he was genuinely cooled off and pleased with swim. Content with himself, the male swam his way easily over to the edge, crossing his arms and resting them against the side of the pool. "Hey," he said in hopes of catching the unknown woman's attention.

Molly had kept the corner of her eye on him, although she hadn't fully been paying attention. She had begun humming to herself, and listening to conversations happening around her. Children complaining to their mothers. Young couples giggling and kissing. However, when he finally spoke to her, she noticed. And she was a tiny bit excited.
Sitting up, Molly smiled at him. Well. Hello there. She moved down to the edge of the chair so she'd be closer to him. Twirling her hair, she grinned. You are quite the diver. she said with a giggle.
Finally, Molly decided to get closer. She stood up, tucking her iPod back into her bag, and sat on the edge of the pool, near the guy. She dipped her feet into the pool and smiled down at him. Im Molly. she said, and held out her hand.

Daniel Marcus Ackerley She seemed receptive to him, which was great. "Why thank you," Danny returned, part of a one-sided grin forming on his face at Molly's comment. Dark eyes rested on her as she got up, put what looked like an iPod in to her bag, and made her way over to him, resting her feet in the water nest to him. The smile she wore was soft and she the vibes she gave him were great - positive, more than anything, and appealing.
"Molly," he said, tasting the woman's name on his tongue before glancing up at her with slightly narrowed eyes. "It suits you," he decided, extending one hand to take hers. In a move even he hadn't expected he would do, he pulled her hand closed and laid a soft kiss on the back of it - a typical flirty move for him to play. "Danny," he offered in return, releasing her hand with his half grin still worn on his face.

She couldnt help but giggle softly when he kissed her hand. Its very nice to meet you, Danny. Her smiled stayed on her face. She took a moment to look at him. Not just a quick look, but really look at him.
Danny had definitely given off a good first impression. He was cute, which was always a bonus. But his first action, the kiss on her hand, caught her off guard. She really liked that in a guy. Being too predictable was a huge turn off to Molly.
Besides the cute guy she was talking to, Molly could feel her skin burning. She knew she'd be in pain later. The price you pay for being super pale.
She shook the thought away and turned back to Danny. So, was it the heat or something else that brought you here today? Perhaps the screaming children? she said with another smile.

Daniel Marcus Ackerley Danny caught her gaze when she looked at him, and kept eye contact for a prolonged moment before breaking it. He was well aware of what he was doing now, and he didn't mind one bit - Molly came off as a nice person, and so he would revel in that as much as he could. It was the sort of thing that Daniel found himself doing quite a bit. As long as someone didn't force conversation on him, or blatantly beg for attention, he was often more than willing to entertain whoever came by. Despite being on the quiet side most of the time, he found a lot of pleasure in meeting people - especially ones like Molly, who seemed like quite fine beings to associate with.
Bracing his hands against the wall of the pool, Danny lifted himself out of the pool and sat down beside where Molly was, one hand resting at each of his sides. He shook the excess water out of his hair, not thinking for a moment about the girl in close proximity to him and how he might splatter water on to her.
"Yeah, definitely the children," Danny joked, giving a slight shake of his head. "Naw, heat got to me. Yourself?"

Molly was, once again, caught off guard when she was hit with little water drops. Personally, I love listening to children scream. She waited a moment, just to see how he would take a joke like that. Kidding. Im a high school teacher. I listen to teenagers scream. She thought for a moment, then added, Not scream. Sing.
Molly found herself twirling her ring again as she thought about the upcoming school year. But. I came here for a tan. She looked down at her now very red body. It's working, she laughed.
Molly, not wanting their conversation to end, then asked, So, what do you do for a living? Professional community pool diver? She grinned at him.

Daniel Marcus Ackerley High school teacher, huh? That put her probably older than he was, but Danny frankly didn't care much about age anyways. It wasn't like she was forty or somethign ridiculous like that. He listened as she spoke, genuinely interested in her joking manner and what she had to say about things.
"Man, I could be Olympics material," Danny joked in return, shaking his head just lightly and letting out a small chuckle. "No, I give music lessons to people. Kids and young teenagers mostly but sometimes older people as well," he told her. Kids who wanted to learn to play were usually pretty decent kids, Danny had learned - he'd taught a five year old bass before and it had been a great time.
Given that Molly had stated that she listened to teenagers sing, he could only assume that she probably worked in the music department of the little high scool he used to go to now - and that was cool to him. She liked music, he liked music. Right there was an in for conversation, and this woman was turning out to seem pretty great.

Molly's smile grew when he said he was a music instructor. Well, maybe I should get your number. For my students. I teach music. Of course, Molly wouldnt mind having his number for herself, too.
Molly's interest grew. She loved meeting other musicians. What kind of music do you listen to? she asked excitedly. Molly's life revolved around music. There was nothing more important to her. She could listen to anything.
Once Molly hit fifth grade, her love for music grew. She joined her school chorus and auditioned for every solo possible. Once she hit high school, she began taking vocal lessons, planning on going into a career in music.

Daniel Marcus Ackerley For her students. A sly grin formed on Danny's face as Molly's remark. "Yeah sure. For your students," he returned. That would be cool, he decided - both having access to talking to this increasingly interesting woman and the potential of getting some new faces for himself.
"Uh, pretty much everything," he said, musing to himself about what bands to go in depth about. He paused for a moment before nodding his head quickly. "I might seem a little young for it, but Motley Crue, Guns 'n Roses. That sort of music's really great, but I listen to a lot of newer stuff as well. Except rap, not my thing." He told himself not to get too in to this just yet - though they'd found a topic that Danny could easily go on for days about if given the chance.
He'd almost always been musical - during late public school and through high school he'd learned to play the sax, he'd learned the piano at the same time - though that was one thing he wouldn't admit. His favorite was his guitar, though - he'd picked up his first one at thirteen years old and never gone back. With a musical ear and a quick learning disposition, he also easily caught on to new things with anything involving music. It really was his ultimate passion.
"What about you? What sort of music do you listen to?" He questioned, tilting his head slightly to the left as he did so.

Molly laughed. A little young? You're never too young for music like that. Its perfect. I can listen to almost anything. Except rap and modern music. One Direction, not my thing. Not a lie. Molly couldnt stand modern pop music. It made her ears want to bleed.
My absolute favorite is Billy Joel. I'd marry him in a heartbeat if I could, she said with a dreamy smile. Im also a huge Broadway fan.
Molly thought for a moment, before adding, What instruments do you play? And.. what do you teach?

Daniel Marcus Ackerley "Great," Danny said, adjusting his posture to straighten himself up just a little bit. He stayed turned towards her though, one elbow resting against his upper leg. He quite enjoyed hearing her say she wasn't too fond of today's "popular" music - One Direction and Bieber were like claws on a chalkboard to Danny. Broadway, huh? He thought about that for a second - it was something he'd never really had interest in.
"Uh, I play guitar mostly," he said. "And that's what I usually teach. I can also play the sax and a couple other things. Do you play anything?"
